Essential Mobile Websites and Services: Part 2

A little bit more than a week ago, I did a roundup of the essential applications that I use on my Java-enabled cell phone, now I am going to do a follow-up to that one with a list of essential mobile websites and services. Yesterday, I covered online information stores and today I will go over web-services.

  • Google Calendar gcal
I use this one constantly - as a student and a worker, my schedule is always fluctuating, so it helps to be able to keep my calendar information in one place, no matter how I access it, and to have something that is readable. The only nit I have with it is that it only displays the starting times for events, no ending times; in order to view ending times, you have to actually open the event up and view it there.
  • Twitter twitter
The epitomy of what a mobile website/service should be. Clean design, pure content, and easy to navigate and use. You can read more about Twitter here.
  • Google mobile products page
At the risk of sounding like a fanboi, I have one more Google mobile link to offer - it is a must-bookmark if you use any number of Google products. It is a one page listing of all of the mobile offerings that Google offers, nothing more, nothing else.
  • Mobilicio.us
A mobilized version of del.icio.us - it takes bookmarks from your del.icio.us account tagged with mtag (or whatever tag you pick). The only gripe I can pick with this site is that they don’t really seem to have any functionality or way to create bookmarks. However, that may be remedied by this page that has bookmarklets for del.icio.us and other bookmarking sites that will work in OperaMini.
  • Remember the Milk rmilk
Another example of what the ideal mobile website/service should be. Virtually seamless integration between the full version and the mobile site. The only thing that really bothers me about it is consistent across all of the different ways to access RTM, the way items are sorted or viewed is inconsistent, tags will show up in one form, but not in another, sorting also doesn’t seem to happen the same way - I see this with the main site, the Netvibes widget, and this mobile version.

What are your favorite and indispensable mobile websites and services?
